QoS-aware Multimedia Web Services Architecture

چکیده
Due to the increasing growth of Web Services, Quality of Service (QoS) is becoming a key issue in web services community. Providers and clients need to use QoS-aware architectures to get/ensure end-to-end QoS. The QoS delivery to clients is highly affected by the web service performance itself, by the hosting platform (e.g., Application Server) and by the underlying network (e.g., Internet). Thus, even if web services together with hosting platform provide acceptable QoS, they also require sufficient available network resources to deliver end-to-end QoS. In this paper, we propose a solution approach to the problem of end-to-end QoS support for web services. Our approach rely on the utilization of a web service, called Network Resources Manager (NRM), to take care of the QoS support in the network connecting the client host and the matching web service location. NRM either relies on the network QoS capabilities (e.g., Integrated Services, Differentiated Services, Multiprotocol Label Switching), if any, or uses a measurementbased scheme to estimate the quality that can be delivered between the two locations. One of the key differentiator of our solution is that it does not require any changes to the currently used infrastructure by the users and web services providers.

Service-oriented architecture facilitates the running time of interactions by using business integration on the networks. Currently, web services are considered as the best option to provide Internet services. Due to an increasing number of Web users and the complexity of users’ queries, simple and atomic services are not able to meet the needs of users; and to provide complex services, it requ...
متن کاملAutomatic QoS-aware Web Services Composition based on Set-Cover Problem
By definition, web-services composition works on developing merely optimum coordination among a number of available web-services to provide a new composed web-service intended to satisfy some users requirements for which a single web service is not (good) enough. In this article, the formulation of the automatic web-services composition is proposed as several set-cover problems and an approxima...
متن کاملQoS-based Web Service Recommendation using Popular-dependent Collaborative Filtering
Since, most of the organizations present their services electronically, the number of functionally-equivalent web services is increasing as well as the number of users that employ those web services. Consequently, plenty of information is generated by the users and the web services that lead to the users be in trouble in finding their appropriate web services. Therefore, it is required to provi...

6.1 Introduction This chapter addresses questions such as " What a QoS-aware architecture must look like? " or, " What building blocks does a QoS-aware architecture consist of? " in the context of interactive multimedia applications (IMM). As an integrated part of QoS architectures, capabilities must exist which support management and control of functionality and performance of IMMs. For an arc...
متن کاملA Publish/Subscribe Model for QoS-aware Service Provisioning and Selection
With the growing adoption of the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) in the industry and the wide deployment of Web services, users are increasingly requiring services that are capable of meeting their quality-of-service (QoS) requirements. In this paper, we propose a novel framework for QoS-aware Web service provisioning, which relies on QoS brokers, to mediate between clients and service prov...
